The girls attended the Zeeland Baker Tournament on Saturday.  The format was 10 baker games to qualify and then a Sweet 16 style bracket for the title. The girls started slow and lost their first head to head match to Zeeland which gives the winner an extra 20 pins toward the overall total the seeds the teams.  After that loss, they went on a hot streak.  They won the next 6 matches.  The scored  some of their highest bakers of the season so far, throwing games of 182, 196 and 188 to average 157.4 through qualifying.  This was 17 pins over ther season average. This qualified them 1st out of the 16 teams.  In brackets they matched up against South Christian first, defeating them by 74 to move up to the round of 8.  There they defeated Mona Shores by 59.  In the semifinal they faced Wayland.  They shot one of their best games of the season to start with a 188.  They continued on to defeat Wayland by 38.  This moved them into the finals against Zeeland. This was a rematch of last year's finals.Unlike last year, the girls put Zeeland behind the eight ball by rolling their season best 205 baker game to go ahead of Zeeland by 31.  They held the lead to take the title by 15 pins. Leaving as champs this year was amazing.  The girls averaged 162.25 in the bracket play and 180.5 in the semis and  185 in the finals.  What a thrill to watch.
