In a match that could possibly determine the conference champ, Unity's girls featured many good things. The girls shot their 2nd best Baker game of the season with a 192. Marissa Stanton shot over her average by 51 pins for 2 games including a season high 161. Alyssa Ridder shot her 2nd best game of the season with a 166. Lauren Vander Maas shot her average and took a point. Jenna Levering shot her average and took a point. Aliyah Stanton anchored the team by bowling her average and taking an individual point. With all of that, you would think that they won. Unfortunately they ran into a very good Zeeland team that had 2 bowlers bowl well above their averages and basically take 13 of the 21 -1/2 points together. Lexi Vogt bowled 74 pins over her average taking both points from Marissa. Morgan Smith rolled a 248 in the second regular game, her season high, to finish with roughly 40 pins over her season average. Zeeland bowled 20 pins over their team average and our girls came up 4 pins under their team average.
The girls put up a great fight and it came down to the last few frames, but they still lost a heart breaker. We are currently in 2nd place in the conference behind Zeeland. We look forward to the post conference tournament where we could get enough points to catch and possible pass Zeeland for the conference championship for the 2nd year in a row. Keep up the great work ladies!!
