On a hot humid evening in Cedar Springs the Crusaders came up just short in the State Semi-final game vs Freeland.  The Falcons struck first with a goal just 33 seconds into the game, but only 6 minutes later Dana Johnson stole a goal tying the score at 1-1.  Freeland attacked relentlessly the rest of the first half and got the go ahead goal with 10 minutes left and were looking to add another, but Emily Ponstein and the rest of the Crusader defense held them off. About 15 minutes into the 2nd half the Crusader offense started clicking and applied pressure on the Freeland goal. This paid off when Alaina VanZalen leveled the game 2-2 with 16 minutes remaining and the Crusaders looking to take the lead, but a Freeland shot with just 2:01 left found the upper corner and sealed the win.  The Crusaders battled from behind most of the night and showed tremendous heart and effort in what turned out to be their only loss of the season.  Fantastic season girls!
