Unity Christian Crusaders Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-0 loss to Coopersville on Tuesday. Coopersville took the lead on a home run in the first inning. The Unity Christian Crusaders Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Coopersville, giving up seven runs. Coopersville got things started in the first inning. Duthler homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. Smoes led the Coopersville to victory on the mound. The bulldog allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven. Ethan Dejong took the loss for Unity Christian Crusaders Varsity. Dejong went two innings, allowing five runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one. Duthler went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Coopersville in hits. Coopersville was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Duthler made the most plays with seven.
