Tyce VanderGoot and Clay Mulder took the mound for the Crusaders, giving up only 3 hits collectively and racking up 2 K's. Defensive miscues were the Achilles heel for Unity as unearned runs piled up in the 5th inning. Jarrod Deemter, Luke Postma, and Jeff VanderPloeg had 2 hits each as part of a 9 hit effort by the Crusaders, but in the end it just wasn't enough.
Unity will take on East Grand Rapids this Saturday at UC 48th ave in Game 1 of the Eagle-Sader-Wildcat tournament. Scheduled start time is 10am.
