Jake Schut opened the season with an 89 pitch complete game victory for the Crusaders.  Spreading out just 5 hits and 1 walk over 7 innings of work, he also collected 5 strikeouts while giving up only 1 earned run.  

Unity found themselves in a jam early with the bases loaded and nobody out, but squeaked out of it with a line drive to Warne at SS, who then made a running throw to Dykstra at 3rd for the 6-5 Double play, the pitchers BFF.  

Luke DeGroot and Conner Ymker had 2 hits apiece, opening up the scoring opportunities.  Luke Postma, Bryce Dykstra, Jake Schut, and Conner Ymker each had an RBI in the game.

The real hero tonight was the grounds department, whose relentless pursuit of a playable surface throughout the day today afforded the Crusaders with the opportunity to get out on a field that might otherwise have been under water.  Seriously....thanks guys.  We appreciate it.  

Next action will be Wednesday against the Bulldogs of Grandville.
