Crusaders Lose: -
While moving the conference tournament to Tuesday made for a busy week, we had much better weather than we would have had on Saturday, and we were able to play the entire tournament outside! Congratulations to our 1 doubles team of juniors Ben VanderHill and Max Bredeweg who finished third in their flight, beating two teams they had lost to in the regular season (Hamilton and Holland Christian). We ended up tying for 5th in the tournament and finished 6th overall in our conference for the season.

Byron Center is the team to beat in our conference right now. We played well against them, but it wasn't enough to give them their first conference defeat.

We always have close matches with Hamilton, and today was no different. Unfortunately, we were unable to pull out the win. Several flights played three sets and a couple of other flights played at least one tiebreaker. It's always fun to play competitive matches!

We played a well-fought match today against a strong team with 4 matches going to three sets! Unfortunately, only two of those three-setters went our way leaving us with a score of 3-5. We look forward to seeing Zeeland East again this Saturday for another shot at beating them!

I always enjoy playing against Holland Christian because I get a chance to play against my high school tennis coach! Any win we can get off of Holland Christian is a good win, and today our 2-4 doubles flights pulled out wins!

What a great morning for tennis! It is great to lose some of the humidity and play in cooler weather! We got a lot more of the tournament in than we thought we would! We defeated Kalamazoo Christian 7-1 and were up 5-0 on Grand Rapids-Union before we had to suspend the match due to rain.

We got a taste of our new regional tournament assignment today with a match against NorthPointe Christian. We had a nice win with the doubles losing a combined total of 7 games in 8 sets! Well played!

Today's win was a good indication that we are beginning to settle into our lineup. A special congratulations goes out to Nathan Roon for coming back from a first set loss to win the next two! He never showed signs of tiring, slowing down, or giving up. Nice work Nathan!

In spite of the team's overall score (1-7), we played pretty well. Holland is a tough team and their performance today is a good indication that we are in for a battle in our conference this year! But that's OK. Last year we also underperformed against Holland early on but improved quite a bit by the time we saw them again at the conference tournament!.

The guys had a nice win over South Christian last night. We always have a good match when we play South Christian, but for the last several years, we have come out on the losing end of those good matches. Last night we changed that with a 5-3 win.

What a beautiful day for tennis! And the guys played well! As I continue to adjust the lineup, the guys continue to go with the flow! They adapt pretty well to their situation. While we lost to Hudsonville, a very strong team this year, we defeated Greenville, and we played a good match against Zeeland East. We lost 2-6, but we played competitively. We won't see them again for a few weeks. By that time, we will have an established lineup and be ready for a rematch!

Our first tournament of the year! While we finished 4th out of four teams, we played many close matches, several of which came down to 10-point tie breakers.
