Unity traveled to the Portage Northern Invite to go up against teams we don't often get the chance to compete against. We started pool play by losing to Niles in 2 sets, but finished second in pool play by defeating both Lakeshore and Vicksburg in 2 sets, sending us to the Gold Bracket. Our first opponent was Buchanan who we took down in 2 sets. The next match was against a very solid Okemos team. We fell behind in the first set, but came back and won 25-15. We lost set 2 but came out strong in set 3 for the win, putting the Crusaders in the finals. We met up against Battle Creek Lakeview, a tough division 1 school. We took set 1, 25-23, battled hard but lost set 2, 21-25. We ended up losing set 3, and came home as the Gold Bracket Runner-up. Job well done team!
