On Friday Night, Unity Christian Varsity Softball travelled to Calvin Christian in a non league doubleheader. Unity won both behind strong pitching from Makenzie Cammenga & Madeline Dykhouse. In game 1 Makenzie struck out 8 Calvin Christian batters only giving up 1 earned runs. In game 2, Madeline Dykhouse collected her 1st Varsity Win in pitching 5 strong innings, allowing only 4 hits, 3 run (1 earned). Cammenga came in relief in the 6th & 7th to preserve the victory. Unity collected 21 hits on the night, led by Autumn Meinzer with 6, Bella Duimstra had 4. In all, 10 different Unity batters had base hits on the evening. Unity Christian Varsity Softball will next be in action on Tuesday at Fruitport in a conference DH.
