On Tuesday, Unity Christian Varsity Softball played Coopersville in a league DH. Unity won both games behind strong pitching from Makenzie Cammenga. In game 1 Makenzie struck out 10 Coopersville batters only giving up 2 earned runs. In game 2, she again went 7 strong innings striking out 6 and giving up 5 earned runs in collecting her 10th win on the season. The highlight of the evening came in the 1st game, bottom of 2nd inning, when 4 Unity players hit HR’s. Sydney Overweg started with her 3rd HR. That was followed by sister Brooklyn Overweg ( her 2nd), then sophomore Madeline Dykhouse added to the fun with her 1st HR on the season. Not to be outdone, leadoff hitter Bella Duimstra hit her 1st HR on the season. Unity Christian Varsity Softball will next be in action on Friday at Calvin Christian in a non conference DH.
