UC Varsity Softball travelled to Northview High School to compete in the Northview Invite on Saturday. UC Softball went 3-1 on the day. Unity Softball beat Northville 5-1 behind strong pitching from Mackenzie Cammenga. Several Crusaders had multiple hits led by Natalie Bush with 3. In game two, UC Softball beat the Bronson Vikings 12-0 behind a complete game effort from Kaylee VanderVeen. Ashley Veldheer led the 16 hit barrage with 3 base hits. In Game 3 Unity beat GR Catholic Central 15-4 with Autumn Meinzer getting the win in the circle. Unity had 8 hits in the game. The only blemish came to Jenison, losing 3-1. Allie Lubben pitched a masterful game keeping the Wildcats of Jenison off balance, but Jenison scored 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the 5th, and Unity was not able to make up the deficit. Unity will next be in action on Tuesday at Home against West Catholic.
