The freshman Crusaders split an enjoyable doubleheader yesterday at Byron Center. They lost the first game 5-4 even though Lance Spriensma pitched an excellent game and Jayden DeVries had 3 hits. However, they bounced back to win the second game 6-4 thanks to 4 two-out RBI's by Ryan Broek, and a strong outing and pitching victory by Jayden DeVries, multiple hits from DeVries and Ethan Stienstra, and a spectacular catch in centerfield by Chad Scholtens. It should also be noted that the game ended on an impressive snag by Charlie Schut at 3rd base on a baseball that had to have an unverified exit velocity of at least 125 MPH. Thanks Charlie!
